Women in Leadership

Two Decades of Work with Women Leaders.

For over 20 years, I have worked with accomplished women leaders, CEOs, founders, and senior executives. My work helps them set down the impossible expectations they were handed and lead from something steadier.

Look at everything you are supposed to be.

Beautiful, but not vain. Youthful, but wise. Gracious and nurturing and warm. Smart, but not so smart that you make anyone uncomfortable. Confident, but not arrogant. Submissive enough to be likable, but not so much that you're a pushover. Have a point of view, but don't be pushy about it. And then, on top of all of that, be a strong, decisive leader. Command the room. Hold your own with the men. Be tough enough to run the place and soft enough that they still like you.

It cannot be done.

Not because you aren't capable, but because the rules contradict each other. They were never designed for you to meet them all. They just keep you managing yourself instead of leading. And the exhaustion you feel from trying? That is not a flaw. That is the cost of carrying contradictory and impossible expectations, every day, while trying to excel as a leader.

My work helps you see those inherited scripts clearly, set them down, and lead from something steadier, your own grounded presence, what I call the Inner Edge.

It is the work of finding a new way forward, both as a leader and as a woman.

The Inner Edge for Women Leaders Intensive.

The Inner Edge for Women Leaders Intensive is two days of deep, honest work with a small group of accomplished women leaders. Ten women only.

It is not a conference or a summit. It is not a networking event. It is not a motivational seminar with a banner and a tote bag. It is two days of the real individual and group work — examining the inherited demands running you, the imprint you're leaving, and the version of your leadership that is waiting on the other side of the scripts.

You will leave with a clearer view of yourself than most leaders ever get, a small circle of women who did the work alongside you, and the beginning of a different way of leading — from your Inner Edge, rather than from the rules you inherited.

For the woman ready to look at what's underneath.

This intensive is for you if:

  • You are an accomplished woman — a senior leader, experienced, and successful by every external measure
  • You sense that some of what you call "your style" was actually built to survive an impossible set of expectations, and you're ready to look at what's underneath
  • You are tired of endlessly managing how you're perceived, and curious what would happen if you stopped
  • You have done enough leadership development to know the tips don't reach deep enough
  • You are at a turning point about your work, your voice, your leadership, and who you want to be at this point in your career
  • You want to do this work in real depth, in the company of women who understand the journey

This is not for women looking for tactical career advice, a personal-branding workshop, or a quick confidence boost. There are excellent programs for those things. This is something else.

The double bind running underneath.

I have spent more than two decades working with accomplished women leaders across industries and continents. The pattern I have watched, again and again, is this: the more they accomplish, the more they doubt themselves. The harder they work, the smaller and more tired they sometimes feel.

It is not because they are not enough or unworthy. They are extraordinary. It is because they are trying to satisfy a set of competing demands that cannot all be true at once.

Be attractive and ageless. Be warm and nurturing. Be brilliant, but unthreatening. Be assertive, but not aggressive. Be confident, but humble. Have opinions but stay agreeable. And then — lead. Decisively. Powerfully. In rooms that were not built for you, holding your own with people who never had to satisfy any of these conditions at all.

These demands don't just coexist uneasily. They directly contradict one another. A woman who tries to meet all of them is not failing when she falls short — she is discovering that the equation has no solution. And most of the energy she spends managing that impossible contradiction is energy she could be spending actually creating a new way of leading in the world.

Most leadership programs for women focus on winning the outer game: presence, negotiation, executive communication, sponsorship. Those things do matter. But they don't touch the impossible double bind running underneath — the one that says a woman must be everything, all at once, and somehow lead like a man does too. Until that is named and put down, the outer work only goes so far.

This intensive starts where the others stop.

What we work through together.

Over two days together, the work moves through four layers — and the group is deliberately small, ten women, so it can go deep and real trust can form. What is said in the room stays in the room.

The demands you inherited

Naming the specific, contradictory expectations you absorbed — about how a woman must look, behave, and lead — and seeing how they still operate in your leadership today.

The imprint you're leaving

Seeing clearly how you currently show up — the felt residue you leave with the people around you, especially under pressure.

The traps that hold you

Identifying which of the unconscious patterns are most active in you, and what they are costing you.

The inner edge

Beginning the practice of leading from grounded presence rather than inherited reflex — and choosing your response rather than running the old programming.

The particulars.

Grounded in doctoral research.

This intensive is grounded in my doctoral research in Global Leadership, focused on accomplished women leaders and the experience of inadequacy: why so many women at the top of their fields still struggle to feel like enough in their lives, and what makes the difference for the ones who break the pattern.

It is also the living version of the work in my book Inherited: How Women Leaders Can Find Their Inner Edge, forthcoming in 2027.
