“Respecting others may be your intention. But your actual words and actions demonstrate  intentions to others.”

In this episode, I discuss the difference between your intentions and your actual actions as a leader, particularly in the context of showing respect to others.

“She may be smart, but she doesn’t respect others.”  This was an actual comment written on a feedback assessment a senior leader received. The feedback was jolting, as the woman receiving the feedback did not intend to show anyone disrespect. But comment after comment indicated that her colleagues and employees felt otherwise.

What if there’s a disconnect between our intentions and how they’re perceived by others through our actions?

When it comes to respect, we may assume we are demonstrating it in our interactions with others, but others may think we aren’t.

In this episode of Power Presence Academy, I talk about four common behaviors you may be exhibiting that inadvertently signal disrespect. It’s a chance to do a quick self-check on some things you may be doing that show disrespect to others.

In this episode:

  • Identifying unconscious disrespectful behaviors you may unintentionally exhibit in your leadership role
  • Four common actions you take that can signal a lack of respect
  • The importance of being respectful of others’ time and schedules
  • Showing respect by being fully present instead of multitasking
  • And more!
